Farmers in Hadeso intercrop coffee with native species such as false banana trees, which provide shade and help fertilize the soil. This traditional farming approach maintains biodiversity while producing exceptional quality coffee from one of Ethiopia's premier growing regions. This bean carries inside its flavor and body the very essence of coffee from the history of the first coffees cultivated in Ethiopia. We do not brand this coffee lightly. The name "baraka" is given to honor and respect the ancient ceremony focused on the gathering of people as much as it is the coffee itself. Baraka is an African word translated as "blessing" or "blessed,' and is the final of three servings in the ceremony.
